Talk homework

Our new Global Learning Goal for Autumn 2 is ‘Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure’. Talk to your grown ups about all of the different places around the village that we use to ‘do’ things – shopping, playing, learning, eating and drinking, etc. We will be exploring the village when we come back from half term to find out more!

Reading

Thank you to everyone who has been logging their reading on our new Boom Reader app! Please ensure that you log every time you read with your child.

Please make sure that you send your child into school with their reading folder every day as We will be reading with your children in school at least once a week.

Spellings

There will be no spellings over the half term holiday. We will also be sending your child home with the first 100 High Frequency words. The children are really super at reading them, we will now be learning how to spell them.

It was lovely to meet you all at parents evening this week, we enjoyed celebrating how your children have settled into the new and challenging Year 1 curriculum.

This week the children have enjoyed putting their Beegu hats on and writing in role, in the form of a diary entry talking about Beegu’s time on planet earth. The children have built up to this independent write and we are really proud of everything that they have remembered – they have really enjoyed the story and can tell us everything about it!

We have spent some time in our Maths learning exploring the number 10, breaking it into two parts and finding the different number bonds that make 10. We will continue to look at this after half term.

The children really enjoyed sketching the school building from observation – they paid real attention to details such as brick work and windows/doors and we were really impressed with their pencil control and neat work.

The children have worked really hard throughout this first term, so please enjoy a well-deserved break and take the time to get lots of rest!
