Week 3
Homework: Math/Spag/ TTRockstars (by Thursday), spellings (for Monday) and daily reading
Year 5 has been busy this week developing their diary entries, writing from the perspective of our book's protagonist. They've been writing in first person and attempting to embed the character's inner voice, emotions and thoughts into a recount of the book's events.
In Geography, we've been learning about the barriers some children face that stop them from accessing education and, in History, we've been looking at the Mayan phonics system.
As part of our Science unit on Space, we've been modelling the movement of the Earth and moon as it orbits the Sun. They've also been excited to learn more about our second moon that's going to orbit the Earth for the next two months. Please help the pupils to keep recording their observations of the moon phases on their homework sheet - we'll be learning more about the Moon in a couple of weeks once we've finished the 28-day cycle.
In Maths, we've been rounding numbers to the nearest 100, 1000, 10000 and 100,000. It's been a challenge for some, but they've shown determination.
