Reading everyday please with discussion about the book.
Our first week back has been busy and enjoyable. The children are well rested and have worked even harder than they did last term. In maths, we are continuing with multiplication whilst also practising our addition and subtraction skills in arithmetic. In English, we have started a new CLPE book called Why the Whales Came by Michael Morpurgo. So far we have learnt about where the book is set and about one of the main characters, The Birdman. He is an unusual character who wears a long, black cape draped around his shoulders and a pointed black sou'wester hat. During science, we will be studying different types of soils and learning about how soil is made. Our artist this term is Scarpace and we have learnt all about him and that he paints beautiful fish. In Geography, we learnt all about landforms such as arches, stacks, headlands and bays. We discussed how they might be made and how they characterise a coastline. This links beautifully to our unit of science when we studied rocks earlier in the year. We identified the layers in sedimentary rock stacks and considered how erosion will have helped the formation of arches. In P.E. we will be preparing dance routines using kicks, turns and jumps for our performance later in term.
Have a good weekend
