Talk Homework- We are having a visit from a dentist. Talk with your child about how important it is to look after our teeth and use a timer to time how long they brush their teeth twice a day.
Reading- read at least 3 times a week and log on Boom Reader app. Please remember to bring in reading folder on Monday ready for next weeks guided reading book. Also, please remember to check the boxes outside for a library book for you to read to your child and a book that they can read to you outside of our phonics scheme.
Our topic this half-term is Celebrations. This week our focus has been Diwali. We learnt about the story behind this festival as part of our History and Geography and we were fortunate to have Anita come in to tell us about how they celebrate Diwali in their family. The children were entranced by the story of Ram and Sita as well as by Anita’s beautiful clothing.
In phonics, we learnt the sounds l, ll, ss. The children used the say it, pinch it, write it approach to write their own Diwali cards to friends and family. They also learnt how to write a card.
In maths we have been learning about the composition of numbers to 4 using “part and whole” and the stem sentence: ____ and ____ are part of the whole ______.
