Week 8 - Blog 04/11/2022

The Year 3 learning organiser is available to view on the school website: Home page, Our learning, Our year group learning organiser, Year 3 Learning organiser, Autumn 2. History, Geography and Science are available.

Talk Homework: To talk about what games people living in the Stone Age would have been able to play.

Reading: Read daily, if possible, and log this on Boom Reader.

Spellings: challenge words: return, refresh, reappear, revenge, review, replay, reaction, rebound.

Maths: Please continue to use TTrockstars. We have been focusing on our 2 times tables in class as well as dividing by 2.

In maths this week, we have started to subtract 2-digit numbers from 3-digit numbers using the column method. We have also used the column method to add these numbers together as well. By the end of this week we have become confident with this method and when to exchange.

In English, we have started our new story: Ug, Boy Genius of the Stone Age. We have really enjoyed getting to know the first part of the story and create some descriptive writing about Ug and his family: Dug and Dugs. We really enjoyed thinking about what the story might be about based on the first page pictures.

In PE, we have started our football where we have practised dribbling and passing with the ball. We will start our other PE subject, which is dance, on Monday next week.

In Science, we have started to look at forces and how these act on an object that is moving. We will begin to look at how different surfaces affect the speed of how things move and complete our own experiment to prove this next week.

In DT, we evaluated our bookmarks and as they have been laminated have begun using them in school.

In History, we have started to learn about the Industrial revolution and the expansion of the railways. We will look at this in more detail with the Rainhill Trials next week.

Well done Newt class!
