Talk homework

Look at some different objects around the house. What material are they made of? How do you know? Can you think of any words to describe what they are like? i.e. Opaque, smooth, bumpy, hard, shiny.

Reading

Thank you to everyone who has been logging their reading on our new Boom Reader app! Please ensure that you are reading EVERY DAY with your child and logging it on the Boom Reader app.

Please make sure that you send your child into school with their reading folder every day as We will be reading with your children in school at least once a week.

Spellings

Please continue to practise the days of the week. Remember, they start with a Capital Letter because they are a Proper Noun!

On Monday, the children put their design and technology skills to the test when we asked them to create their prototype of a school table using cardboard and ‘tabs’ to join the table-top to the table legs. We found that the table-top had to be small enough to be supported by the legs, and the stronger the join, the stronger the table.

In Maths this week we have been looking in more detail at the number bonds to 10, including thinking about patterns in numbers – as one bond gets bigger, the other bond gets smaller.

We have started looking at poetry in our English learning this week. We have learnt that a poem is a snapshot of a moment in time that uses lots of interesting words and phrases to really describe what is happening in that moment. The children drew what they saw in their ‘Minds’ Eye’ as we read them a poem called ‘Out and About’, and we ended the week writing about what we ourselves enjoy doing when we are out and about!

If you have not yet signed your home-school agreements that we sent home, if you could please sign and return them to us as soon as you can, that would be great. If you need a new home-school agreement please get in touch.
