We have completed our transition week and are all looking forward to our new adventures next year, but are also feeling quite tired today!  Please complete the Science tasks set for you on SATs Companion and remember to keep up with your reading over the weekend.  The next section to complete in the Get Ahead booklet is English.  We are looking forward to seeing your work next Friday - please bring in any transition work you have completed so far.

The most important piece of homework for you to do this weekend is to get lots of rest!  We have a very busy week ahead, and we need you all to be full of energy, enthusiasm and stamina!

Please complete the 2 Science tasks set for you on SATs Companion.  Remember to continue with reading for at least 20 minutes per day, with 3 of these sessions reading aloud to an adult.

Next week is Science week. Please can you all bring in a range of different sized milk/ fizzy drink bottles which we can use for our Science Investigation - please bring in as many as you can on Monday morning.

Remember to check which ingredients you need for making your Healthy Wrap and bring all your ingredients to school on Wednesday (the children have brought home a letter with all the ingredients they need).

We have attached some Year 7 Mini Knowledge Organisers which you will be using when you move to Year 7.  It would be a great idea to print these at home and begin to learn some of the terminology so that you feel confident for the start of next term.

In addition, the Hinchingbrooke 'Get Ahead Booklet' contains activities which you are being asked to complete over the summer.  To help manage this work, we are suggesting an activity for you to complete each week, and we will spend time in class discussing the work the following week.  This week, please have a go at the tasks in the History section of the booklet and then bring this work to school next Wednesday.  We suggest completing the work on paper and then organising it in a folder under different subject headings.

    Buckden's Got Talent!

The school is having a fun event in the last week of this term to celebrate the wider talents of the children in our school. If your child would like to take part we would love to see their act. They can choose to do an individual piece or join up with others in their year group to perform. You will receive an email shortly with details of our year group audition time.

One act from each year group will be selected to perform in the whole school show.

Please ensure that you learn your lines and words to songs for our play over half-term.  For rehearsals after half-term, we expect you to know all your lines so we can rehearse without scripts.  Tracks to the songs are attached below to help you practise.

The children have been given costume ideas today and a copy of these are attached below.  Please think about your costume over the holiday and bring it into school (named and in a bag which can be kept on your peg) on Monday 24th June.

There are no tasks set on SATs Companion, but please do have a go at practice tasks at home, to ensure you keep your skills fresh and are ready for Year 7.

This week was SATs week.  We are so proud of the way all Year 6 children have conducted themselves this week; they have worked so hard, shown resilience, positivity and have been a credit to both Mrs Purser and Mrs Walker - thank you Year 6 - the whole school are really proud of you!

There is no homework set for you on SATs Companion this week - but you are very welcome to go on and try some practise tasks - why not try some Science activities?  Instead of learning spellings this week, please learn the words for the song, 'Just Another Day'.  The backing track is attached below.

Please complete the 4 tasks set for you on SATs Companion by Wednesday 17th April.  Remember to read each day and return to school ready to take at least one AR Quiz.

In order to support our revision for the SATs Tests in May, we are sending home some Maths and English booklets where there are short tasks for you to complete over the holidays.  Try to spend 10 minutes on Maths and 10 minutes on English every day, and bring your completed booklets back to school on Monday 15th April.  Please don't worry if you find some questions tricky - we will talk through all the questions when we return to school.  A few minutes each day is the best revision technique rather than completing the whole booklet in one go.

We are also sending home some spelling vocabulary for you to revise.  Use the techniques we practise in school, such as 'rainbow write', 'waterfall words', 'capital and lower case', 'words in a sentence' or 'look, cover, write, check'.  Why not get someone to test you at the start of the holiday and then at the end to see how many more words you know after some revision?

For those children who were absent today, or for any children who have misplaced their homework booklets, please find them all attached below.  Thank you for your support in encouraging your child to complete their homework.

We wish you all a very Happy Easter break.

    Mrs Purser and Mrs Walker
